It’s another packed week on Netflix, with a heavy-hitting mix of high-octane returning favorites, heart-wrenching documentaries, and under-the-radar licensed gems. While the headline act is undoubtedly the global return of Peter Sutherland, there’s plenty of room in the queue for a critically acclaimed indie sci-fi and a powerful tribute to a TV legend. Plus, we’ve got a massive haul of over 40 new movies and series to sift through as we head into the back half of February.

In case you missed our announcement over the weekend, we’ve given our main What’s New on Netflix hub page a huge overhaul, and I hope you’ll allow me to say, I’m pretty proud of it. There’s been a bunch of improvements and bug fixes throughout the week, including a nice back-to-top button, even more filters, and a genre drop-down. We’ve now also been able to integrate more review scores from Letterboxd and Rotten Tomatoes Popcorn (audience) scores, which we’ll be using going forward. A bunch of you sent in suggestions on fixes and changes, and we’re appreciative!

For more on what’s coming up on Netflix soon, we’ve just updated our March 2026 release schedule which we should get a finalized week next week.

What to Watch on Netflix This Weekend

East of Wall (2025)

Rating: R
Runtime: 97 mins

Landing on Netflix following a successful run on the festival circuit last year is East of Wall, a gripping, atmospheric thriller that marks a confident directorial debut for Kate Beecroft. Set against the rugged, unforgiving backdrop of the South Dakota badlands, the film follows a young Lakota woman (played by a phenomenal Porshia Zimiga) who is forced into a desperate game of cat-and-mouse when she witnesses a crime involving a powerful local figure.

While the “wrong place, wrong time” trope is well-worn, Beecroft breathes new life into it by anchoring the suspense in real-world tensions and a deep sense of place. Scoot McNairy turns in a typically reliable, understated performance as a conflicted local lawman, but the heart of the film belongs to the Zimiga sisters, whose chemistry provides the emotional backbone to the tension. If you’re a fan of Taylor Sheridan’s brand of “neo-Western” noir like Wind River or Hell or High Water, this should be at the very top of your watchlist this weekend.

Jonathan (2018)

Director: Bill Oliver
Writer: Gregory Davis, Peter Nickowitz, Bill Oliver
Country of Origin: United States
Cast: Ansel Elgort, Suki Waterhouse, Patricia Clarkson
Rating: TV-MA
Runtime: 100 min

One of the surprise, unannounced titles that dropped this week is Jonathan, the 2018 sci-fi mystery movie about two siblings who share a body, each getting it for 12 hours a day. But when one of them breaks the rules, their whole way of life comes crashing down. If that plot sounds a bit similar to The Substance, you’d be right, although it’s very different in practice and equally as interesting.

Full warning, not everyone enjoyed this film as much as I did, with most reviews (both from critics and audiences) rating exactly in the middle. AJ Caulfield for The Young Folks perhaps summarized sentiment best, saying, “While Elgort delivers a strong leading performance, and the film conserves to its closing moments the peculiar slant it led with, Jonathan ends up only just adequate: smart but not as genius as Jonathan, tense but not as mortally conflicted as Jon.”

The Night Agent (Season 3)

Cast: Gabriel Basso, Luciane Buchanan, Hong Chau, D.B. Woodside, Fola Evans-Akingbola
Rating: TV-MA

The third biggest English language return of 2026 is here (following Bridgerton and The Lincoln Lawyer) with Gabriel Basso back as agent Peter Sutherland and once again, we’re headed around the globe.

Here’s the official logline for season 3: “Peter Sutherland is called in to track down a young Treasury Agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss. This kicks off a sequence of events where Peter investigates a dark money network while avoiding its paid assassins, while putting him on a collision course with a relentless journalist. Working together, they uncover buried secrets and old grudges that threaten to bring the government to its knees — and get them both killed in the process.”

Looking at the general consensus online, season 3 looks to be maybe the best, if not the second-best, season to date, and a massive step up and return to form after a somewhat wonky second season. Things are looking positive for a potential fourth season, with work well underway behind the scenes, but no official renewal just yet.

Famous Last Words: Eric Dane (2026)

Cast: Brad Falchuk, Eric Dane
Runtime: 50 minutes

In the second entry in Netflix’s Famous Last Words series, we have a touching and incredibly sad interview with Brad Falchuk sitting down with actor Eric Dane sometime last year, following his ALS diagnosis, with the knowledge that what would be said would only be released on Netflix following his death. On Thursday, that happened, and now his final words are here with him. He talks about all manner of aspects of his life, from his diagnosis to his wide-ranging career to his family. It’s one of the most emotional interviews I’ve ever watched, and regardless of whether you’re a fan or even know of his career, there are vital lessons to be learned throughout. If nothing else, read his last monologue addressed to his two daughters
