The new Qobuz Andoid TV app
Qobuz
Qobuz has officially launched its Android TV app, bringing its full hi-res and lossless music catalogue direct to the biggest screen in your home.
The new app is available now on the Google Play Store and works across all TVs and devices running Google TV (or older Android TV devices).
It’s not the first time Qobuz has appeared on the platform; a beta version quietly rolled out last year, letting early testers try out the big-screen interface and iron out playback quirks before this full release.
Now fully launched, the app delivers the complete Qobuz experience on TV. You can browse the its library of albums, playlists, editorial picks, and your own favorites, with personalized recommendations and a layout tuned for sofa-friendly navigation.
Every track streams in CD-quality or hi-res audio, depending on what your AV setup supports, and the new Qobuz Connect feature means you don’t have to juggle remotes.
Qobuz Connect went live in March and, like Connect options that already exist from the likes of Spotify and Tidal, Qobuz Connect lets you stream high-resolution music directly from the Qobuz app to compatible hi-fi devices, so no Bluetooth, AirPlay, or third-party apps are needed.
For the new app you can control playback from your phone or tablet while the music keeps playing through the TV.
Axel Destagnol, Qobuz’s Chief Product Officer, said the Android TV release is something users have been pushing for. “This app embodies our desire to be accessible wherever people listen to music, from headphones to the living room, while preserving what makes Qobuz unique: audio quality and editorial richness.”
The move gives Qobuz a stronger foothold in the living-room listening space; one that’s dominated by rivals like Tidal, Spotify, and Apple Music – all of which have native TV apps already.
