What have we learnt from fashion this year? That if you shoot for the moon – and dress like it – you’ll become a punchline. That a frightening-looking toy with bared teeth can become a billion-dollar behemoth thanks to Gen Alpha. That trad wives and KPop Demon Hunters can be as trend-driving as mainstream celebrities once were. Which is all to say that, like every year, 2025 was a time of fashion extremes and memes.
Looking past the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments, fashion has a lot to teach us. Here are a few lessons I’m taking from this year. Feel free, of course, to join me.
