On Thursday, the Miami Heat took a 112-105 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Heat forward Bam Adebayo totaled 21 points and eight rebounds in 35 minutes.
Adebayo made NBA history earlier this week, passing Kobe Bryant for the second-most points scored in a single game. The 83-point performance was met with controversy, though the three-time All-Star has received endorsements from numerous stars.
Per South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman, following Thursday’s match, Giannis Antetokounmpo called Adebayo one of the league’s top players.
“Obviously, whenever I play against Bam, it’s always an act of motivation. I think he’s one of the best players in the NBA, one of the best two-way players in the NBA, one of the best four, five men in the league. I don’t have to see any big points on the board.”
Heating Up
Adebayo was drafted with the No. 14 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. The 28-year-old developed into a defensive specialist for the Heat’s frontcourt, accumulating five All-Defensive selections throughout his career.
This season, Adebayo is averaging 20.0 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. He is the Heat’s third-leading scorer and top rebounder, serving as a key component of the team’s recent rise up the rankings.
Miami holds the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference standings with a 38-29 record. The franchise is on a seven-game winning streak.
Since making an appearance in the 2023 NBA Finals, the Heat have been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs twice. The most recent postseason defeat was a 4-0 sweep by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Looking to make another trip to the playoffs, other notable contributors for the Heat include Norman Powell and Tyler Herro. The 32-year-old Powell earned his first career All-Star selection last month, while Herro has missed the majority of this season due to injury.
Adebayo’s boost of momentum may serve as a source of inspiration throughout the remaining stretch of the regular season.
