3 Best Movies To Watch On Netflix This Weekend (Nov 15-16)

Netflix offers quite a few movies to pick from, and I believe these three make for the perfect selection for this coming weekend. November finds us in the middle between the Halloween season and Christmas. While Netflix is seeing a surge in holiday movies, I think we could leave those for a little later in the future, with others to pick instead.

For this weekend, I thought of three movies that differ in genre, medium, and tone, creating a diverse list that will hopefully have something for everyone. We have a new Netflix animated movie that shows a lot of promise, a Stephen King horror adaptation, and an action movie that stars one of Hollywood’s biggest actors. Let’s get started.

In Your Dreams (2025)

First up is the new Netflix original animated movie In Your Dreams, which was released on the streamer this Friday, November 14. The movie features an impressive cast, including actors like Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Cristin Milioti (The Penguin), Craig Robinson (The Office), and more.

In Your Dreams tells the story of Stevie and Elliot, the sister-brother duo who go into the world of their dreams to find The Sandman in the hopes of saving their parents’ marriage, as he could make their dreams come true. Netflix’s new original animated movie promises an emotional story that can be watched by the whole family.

In Your Dreams currently holds an 86% Rotten Tomatoes score at the time of writing, showing how the film has landed positively with critics. The movie is a fun adventure with plenty of comedic beats that land well, like Elliot’s love for magic. His dynamic with his sister, who is often annoyed by his antics, makes for nice back and forth.

Firestarter (2022)

Next up, I believe a tonal change could benefit those looking for a darker project on Netflix. Given that it has been some time since Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein premiered on the streamer, my recommendation in the horror genre this week is a forgotten Stephen King adaptation. After all, this has been a great year for the author in terms of movies and shows.

The Long Walk is among my favorite films released in 2025, It: Welcome to Derry perfectly expands the world of the hit horror franchise, and Glen Powell’s The Running Man is a thrilling adventure now in theaters. For those choosing to stick to Netflix, rather than go out this weekend, I believe 2022’s Firestarter is the Stephen King adaptation to watch.

Zac Efron stars as Andy McGee, who possesses the power of telepathy and must find a way to keep his young daughter, Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), who manipulates fire but often loses control due to anger issues, safe from a shadowy organization. Firestarter is currently the 7th most-watched movie on Netflix in the United States.

San Andreas (2015)

Finally, with a new animated movie and a rising horror flick on the list, I feel it is best we end the Netflix recommendations for the weekend with a bona fide action movie. If Efron makes the cut on Firestarter, then his Baywatch co-stars Dwayne Johnson and Alexandra Daddario also make the list in the form of San Andreas.

As its name suggests, the movie sees a shift in the San Andreas Fault leading to massive earthquakes, leaving a path of destruction in California, where The Rock’s Ray Gaines, a chief rescue helicopter pilot, rescues his wife, Emma, with both being in the middle of a divorce process. Together, they go to rescue their daughter, Daddario’s Blake.

The movie merges natural disasters with an emotional family story. San Andreas was a box office hit, ending its theatrical run with a mighty $474.6 million. This will also be the last weekend Netflix subscribers can watch the movie, as San Andreas will leave the streamer on November 22. As such, it is the fitting movie to end this Netflix list.
