With the holiday season in full swing, it’s no surprise that the number one movie on Prime Video is a brand-new Christmas comedy. Michael Showalter’s Oh. What. Fun., starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Felicity Jones, and more, may not have received too many glowing reviews from critics, but the film has proven quite popular with audiences since its Prime Video debut on December 3. However, in case you’re not quite in the mood for holiday fun yet, or if you’re craving something a little different, the streaming service still has many more options for you to choose from. Without further ado, here’s a look at three great movies that we think you should watch on Prime Video this week, including one of the most iconic rom-coms of all time.

‘Notting Hill’ (1999)
Directed by Roger Michell and written by Richard Curtis, Notting Hill is one of the most iconic rom-coms of the 1990s. Starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, the film follows the unlikely romance between a British bookstore owner and a famous American actress who happens to walk into his shop in the titular London district. The movie also stars Rhys Ifans, Emma Chambers, Tim McInnerny, Gina McKee, and Hugh Bonneville in supporting roles.
One of the biggest films of 1999, Notting Hill was both acclaimed by critics and a huge box-office success, becoming the highest-grossing British film released to that point. The film also earned several accolades, including three Golden Globe nominations and the Audience Award for Most Popular Film at the BAFTAs, where it was also nominated for Outstanding British Film of the Year. A charming rom-com anchored by the chemistry between Grant and Roberts, the movie is widely regarded as a romance classic.

‘Imagine Me & You’ (2005)
Written and directed by Ol Parker in his directorial debut, Imagine Me & You is a romantic comedy-drama starring Piper Perabo and Lena Headey as Rachel and Luce, who are instantly drawn to each other at first sight. Unfortunately, their first meeting happens during Rachel’s wedding to Hector (Matthew Goode), forcing her to choose between her stable relationship and the chance for an exhilarating new romance, all while questioning her sexual orientation. The film also stars Celia Imrie, Darren Boyd, Boo Jackson, Sharon Horgan, Anthony Head, and more in supporting roles.
Though its critical reception was quite negative, Imagine Me & You is a queer classic and one of the most popular lesbian rom-coms of all time. It might not be one of the most talked-about British romance films, but its charming and witty story, coupled with the stellar performances, makes it one of the best. Some parts of the film may not have aged very well over the last 20 years, but on the whole, Imagine Me & You is a genuinely sweet romance with delightful characters and an emotionally satisfying ending.

‘Black Bag’ (2025)
A 2025 spy thriller starring Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender, Black Bag was directed by Steven Soderbergh and written by David Koepp. The film follows happily married intelligence officers George Woodhouse (Fassbender) and Kathryn St. Jean (Blanchett), whose personal and professional lives collide when George is tasked with finding a traitor in the organization, and Kathryn appears to be the prime suspect. The movie also stars Marisa Abela, Tom Burke, Naomie Harris, Regé-Jean Page, and Pierce Brosnan in supporting roles.
Though its premise may sound like a rehash of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Black Bag is a lot darker and emotionally complex than its 2000s counterpart, but like that film, it’s also ultimately a love story. Stylishly directed and masterfully performed, the movie is a gripping spy thriller with a dry sense of humor, and though its theatrical run was a disappointment, the film has earned near-universal acclaim from critics. Black Bag is easily one of the best thrillers of 2025, and a fascinating, cerebral watch that’s perfect for fans of stories about gritty spies and uncompromising love.
