Now that March has finally arrived, there has never been a better time to stream some movies on Prime Video. One of the earliest names to jump on the streaming bandwagon, Amazon’s Prime Video still dominates the media landscape. Part digital storefront and part streaming service, Prime has nearly everything at the click of a button.
Prime Video’s streaming catalog is packed with new and classic movies, and the company produces a heap of original films every year too. While this has helped make them an industry leader, it also makes picking something to watch on Prime nearly impossible. Thankfully, this handy list of excellent picks has something for everyone.

My Mother’s Wedding (2023)
The beauty of streaming services like Prime Video is that they give low-stakes movies a home, and My Mother’s Wedding fits nicely in the streamer’s catalog. The plot concerns a trio of sisters who return to their childhood home for their mother’s third marriage, and they grapple with their past. Despite starring Scarlett Johansson, the dramedy slipped by unnoticed.
My Mother’s Wedding premiered at TIFF in 2023, but wasn’t widely released until 2025.
My Mother’s Wedding is a charming way to pass 95 minutes, and it’s an excellent showcase of the ensemble cast. It’s reminiscent of comedies that were common in the past, but aren’t made much anymore. It got middling reviews, but is certainly better than its Rotten Tomatoes score. There’s a reason it has cracked the top 10 on Prime Video.

Sisu (2022)
Moving in the opposite direction from the previous film, there is nothing quaint or low-stakes about Sisu. It’s set in the dying days of WWII, and follows a Finnish prospector who hunts and kills the Nazis who stole his gold. The Finnish-American co-production shifted the paradigm in the saturated revenge thriller genre.
With over-the-top violence and bombastic action scenes, Sisu combines the scope of a war film with the heightened drama of thrillers like John Wick. While the film’s overt violence might not be appropriate for all viewers, it’s certainly worth a watch for those looking for something new. Even action movie fans who have seen everything will be surprised by Sisu.

Big Trouble In Little China (1986)
Prime Video’s catalog might have a lot of new movies, but there are also cult classics like Big Trouble in Little China too. A carefree truck driver gets involved with an ancient supernatural conflict in San Francisco’s Chinatown. The ’80s gem stars Kurt Russell, and it’s one of John Carpenter’s best movies.
Big Trouble in Little China has that magical quality of a Spielberg movie, but it also has an edge thanks to Carpenter’s wit. Russell’s Jack Burton is a humorous parody of ’80s action heroes, and the movie is both sincere and sarcastic in equal measure. Whether it’s the first or 400th viewing, it’s a must-see on Prime Video.
