The current Prime Video streaming charts are dominated by a brand-new arrival, as Alan Ritchson of Reacher fame and Kevin James team up for the action comedy Playdate. Sure, it has fallen to terrible critical reception, earning just 23% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, but that hasn’t stopped its kick-ass leading man from proving popular on streaming once again. ‘Chicago’ (2002)

Rotten Tomatoes: 87% | IMDb: 7.2/10

To warm your world during these cold November nights, add a blood-red musical sparkle courtesy of 2002’s Chicago. The movie follows Renée Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones‘ Roxie and Velma, a duo both facing the death sentence, who develop a vicious rivalry as they dare to steal the spotlight. Of course, they do so by performing some of the catchiest musical numbers sure to keep you singing long after the credits roll.

A bold, enthralling musical feature whose legacy was harmed by an awards season overperformance, Chicago is an electric viewing experience boasting a pair of brilliant lead performances. The film won an incredible six Oscars in 2003, including a prize for Zeta-Jones in the Best Supporting Actress Category and a controversial win of the coveted Best Picture trophy.

‘Hanna’ (2011)

Director Joe Wright is celebrated for his work on detailed period dramas, such as 2005’s Pride & Prejudice. However, in 2011, not only did Wright pivot successfully into the action genre, but he did so while providing the platform for a future Hollywood mainstay to prove her talent. The 2011 action thriller Hanna stars Saoirse Ronan as a 16-year-old raised by her father, Erik Heller (Eric Bana), to be the perfect assassin. To prove her worth, she heads out on a deadly mission.

Inspired by Grimms’ Fairy Tales, Hanna is a gripping action thriller with all the trimmings. Ronan is superb despite being just 17 years old at the time of the film’s release, thriving in her first action flick. A neat emotional coming-of-age tale that’s compelling from start to finish, Hanna will help you escape into a world of thrills and spills this weekend.

‘Drop’ (2025)

Rotten Tomatoes: 83% | IMDb: 6.1/10

One of the more underrated movies to be released this year, Drop follows young widow Violet (Meghann Fahy), whose date with stranger Henry (Brandon Sklenar) is interrupted by a bombardment of anonymous text messages threatening the life of her son. As the chaos continues, Violet soon becomes suspicious of her date.

Likened by many to one of Alfred Hitchcock‘s classic thrillers, Drop makes wonderful use of its limited setting, using the confines of a restaurant on top of a tower to heighten a sense of claustrophobia and keep the audience on the edge of their seat. Fahy and Sklenar are gripping throughout, bringing to life this unique whodunnit and selling each shocking twist with aplomb, whilst never losing an ounce of romantic chemistry.
