3 Fall Fashion Trends to Invest In, per Shopbop’s Fashion Director

Western style isn’t just having a moment. It’s leading the fashion conversation nationwide. From the runways to superstar street style to TikTok’s “City Cowgirl” wave, Americana is the trend defining how we’re dressing for fall and beyond. So if Shopbop was going to bring its first big pop-up of the season to life, it had to start at the source: Dallas.

“Dallas has a real fashion identity. It’s bold, trend-forward, and unafraid of a standout moment,” says Caroline Maguire, Shopbop’s fashion director. “Western influence has always lived here, but now the rest of the country is leaning into it, too.” The result? A curated edit that blends modern Western energy with everyday wearability, whether you’re styling it for New York, L.A., Nashville, or Chicago.

And truly, the edit delivers joy. Maguire worked closely with Shopbop’s buying team to create a curation that blends fall’s biggest trends with the bold personality that embodies Dallas dressing. The first non-negotiable on her list? Novelty.

“The Dallas edit has to have novelty,” she insists. “Our customer here loves detail: the diamanté, the shine, the standout moment.” Expect crystal-trimmed tops, statement belts, python-print accessories, and Western-inspired boots designed for more than just the rodeo. With one of the city’s biggest galas taking place this weekend, the timing couldn’t be better.

But novelty doesn’t mean head-to-toe trend. Maguire’s styling rule is simple: Build—don’t overwhelm. “Think about building on a trend rather than wearing it head-to-toe. That balance is what makes a look feel stylish, not costume-y,” she says. Her formula is to start with a rich fall knit, add dark raw denim, then layer in a suede boot or python belt for texture.

Speaking of suede, prepare to see it everywhere. “Summer suede is here to stay through fall and into spring 2026,” Maguire says. “It just looks luxurious and instantly elevates denim and a tee.” The pop-up is stocked with suede jackets, boots, and handbags in chocolate, tan, and oxblood tones—the kind of investment pieces that feel timeless but still of the moment.

What should shoppers actually invest in this season? Maguire calls out three themes worth building a wardrobe around:

Statement Prints

Plaid and polka dots are having a resurgence, and not in a preppy way. “We’re seeing them styled in playful and really modern ways,” she says. Think tailored plaid suiting or black-and-white polka dots mixed in scale or layered unexpectedly. “It feels fresh and fun.”

The Color Story

Warm browns, burgundy, mulberry, navy, and pops of red anchor the collection—all grounded by khaki as the season’s new neutral. “Khaki is the glue,” she says. “A khaki trench or chino instantly sharpens the richer colors.”

Ultimately, Dallas style is about joy—dressing like you mean it. “The overarching theme is balance,” she says. “Wear the trend, but make it yours.”

Whether you’re in Dallas or shopping from your phone, the message is the same: These pieces are ready to wear now and for seasons to come. And if you can make it in person? Expect more than just great fashion. The pop-up offers styling moments, exclusive pieces, and the IRL experience that Shopbop loyalists have been craving.

The only risk? Waiting. “The customer here knows what she wants,” Maguire says with a smile—and she doesn’t hesitate.
