43-Year-Old Man Identified Over Social Media Threat

A 43-year-old man has been identified by the Hellenic Police after allegedly posting a comment on social media calling for an attack against political party leader Afroditi Latinopoulou.

According to authorities, the man not only insulted Latinopoulou but also published content that allegedly incited violence against her. A case file has been formed against him for insulting a political leader, incitement to commit crimes and acts of violence, and for offending a political figure.

Cybercrime Investigation

The investigation was carried out by the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate following a formal complaint concerning the administrator of a social media account. The account had reportedly posted abusive and violent content in response to an excerpt from an interview given by Latinopoulou that was published in a newspaper.

Through digital and online forensic investigation, cooperation with the social media platform’s management company, and coordination with the relevant internet service provider, authorities were able to trace and identify the 43-year-old as the administrator of the account.

The completed case file has been submitted to the competent prosecutorial authority for further legal action.
