The sun is out, the birds are singing, and the wildlife is buzzing with plenty of activity, which puts me in the mood for some action-packed streaming entertainment to watch this week.
Amazon Prime Video is seeing a handful of action-thriller movies climb the streaming charts, so we’re diving right into those. Topping the list is a new release that currently sits at #1 and hearkens back to classic heist thrillers like Heat, followed by titles that reside close behind in U.S. charts.

Pretty Lethal
Ballet with a side of kung fu
Uma Thurman stars as a legendary but reclusive prima ballerina running a performance art-themed hotel in Pretty Lethal, a 2026 action-horror thriller about a dysfunctional ballet troupe fighting for their lives in a remote European location.
When a Los Angeles-based ballet troupe is invited to compete in Budapest, they’re ecstatic. However, upon arriving in Hungary, their bus breaks down in a forest, forcing the group to search for help. After they encounter the Teremok Inn’s Devora Kasimer (Thurman), the girls are welcomed into her hotel, where they soon discover it’s not the place they believed it to be. Before they know it, they’re in a fight against some brutal bad guys, knowing that, if they want to survive, they must weaponize their dance training.
Look, this movie isn’t some cinematic masterpiece, but it is loads of fun thanks to its stylish, ballet-fu action. The fight scenes are the main reason to watch. They’re creative and very well-choreographed. I mean, it’s an Uma Thurman action flick—of course it showcases the art of fighting.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning
Time to retire the running shoes
Fans can relax knowing that Tom Cruise is still busy running across the earth, as is evidenced in 2025’s final installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise, The Final Reckoning. The action-packed movie is currently climbing Amazon’s streaming charts.
Here, Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his IMF team embark on a high-stakes mission to track down a formidable A.I. known as the Entity, which has successfully managed to infiltrate global intelligence networks and pose not just a significant but also an unprecedented threat. Knowing it may very well be his final mission, Hunt is hellbent on ending it.
The Final Reckoning is an absolute must-watch for fans seeking an action spectacle for the finale of the 29-year action franchise. You’ll get your fill of trademark Tom Cruise stunts, including breath-holding underwater, biplane sequences, and mad running skills, all while experiencing the close of Ethan Hunt’s arc. Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Hayley Atwell also star.

Agent Zeta
Jason Bourne meets Jason Statham
Another action-packed flick that’s also a new release is Agent Zeta. It’s a classic high-stakes spy thriller that serves up an entertaining formula of globe-trotting action in a slow-burn investigation that leads to explosive outbursts and a tangled web of betrayal.
Decades after Operation Ciénaga, a covert black-ops mission, four former Spanish intelligence agents/spies are assassinated across the globe. The CNI, or National Intelligence Centre, tasks its best operative, Agent Zeta (Mario Casas), who’s on sabbatical, to investigate the murders of his former colleagues while tracking the one agent who managed to escape. After joining forces with a Colombian spy, he goes on to deal with the mysterious sole survivor before secrets come to light and things take a violent turn.
A worthwhile action experience for those aching to see the next action-thriller streaming franchise in the making, Agent Zeta features impressive production values, strong performances, and praise-worthy shootouts with explosions on display. If you’re looking for a fast-paced conspiracy full of chaos to get into this week, you just found it.

Mercy
Star-Lord in a tight spot
Dropping in at #2 on the charts, Mercy is a brand-spanking new sci-fi thriller blending classic crime action energy with the modern twist that is the growing tension between A.I., cloud-based surveillance, and the humans trying to control it.
In the near future, Detective Chris Raven (Guardian of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt) sits strapped into the “Mercy Chair” in an autonomous courtroom after he’s accused of murdering his wife. He has just 90 minutes to prove his innocence to the advanced A.I. judge “Maddox” (Rebecca Ferguson) he once championed, as he analyzes evidence and calculates a high probability of his guilt. If he can’t, he’ll be executed on the spot.
A grounded, high-concept, screenlife-style mystery, Mercy explores A.I. in the justice system and is filmed in real time, mostly from the perspective of our protagonist as he observes and puts together various clues in provided footage. Unexpected twists, suspense and action, and stifling tension make this heart-pounder a perfect choice for fans of tech-driven, cerebral, escape room-type scenarios.

Crime 101
Get your motor runnin…
The top movie to stream in the United States on Prime Video is the newly released Crime 101, for good reason. Chris Hemsworth stars in the big-twist, high-octane heist thriller, currently boasting an 89% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Set against the gritty, sun-bleached backdrop of Los Angeles, our tale follows an elusive, disciplined jewel thief (Hemsworth) whose high-stakes heists mystify local police as they unfold along the iconic 101 freeway. After eyeballing the score of a lifetime, his path collides with a disillusioned insurance broker (Halle Berry) standing at her own crossroads, forcing the two to collaborate. As a relentless detective (Mark Ruffalo) closes in on their operation, the stakes climb higher, and the line between hunter and hunted begins to blur, as does their point of no return.
If you dig old-fashioned crime thrillers, watch this movie. It’s tense, character-driven, and packed with action, hearkening back to classic hits like Heat. Nick Nolte, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tate Donovan, and the Saltburn slurper Barry Keoghan—whom you can also currently see as the prodigal Shelby son in the new Peaky Blinders movie—also star.
The new season is just heating up on Prime Video, so stick around and explore! You never know what gems you might find.
