It’s Easter weekend, but you won’t have to go hunting for what movies to add to your watchlist. The best streaming services are loading up our baskets with some of the biggest blockbusters of the past few years, so there are plenty of options for what to watch with the family after too much Easter candy.
Leading the pack this week is James Cameron’s latest epic, “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” available via premium video-on-demand rental, which is sure to be a crowd-pleasing pick. For the horror fans out there, “Alien: Romulus” just arrived on HBO Max, and it’s easily my favorite in the series since “Aliens.” Over on Hulu, “Stranger Things” star Gaten Matarazzo leads the sharp stoner comedy “Pizza Movie,” and for even more self-aware laughs, Prime Video just got “American Fiction,” an Oscar-winning comedy that stars Jeffrey Wright in his most bracing film role to date.

‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ (PVOD)
The vibe: I mean, it’s “Avatar.” Dazzling visuals galore and not much else.
After raking in $1.5 billion in theaters, “Avatar: Fire & Ash” is finally available to stream from the comfort of your own couch. This threequel picks up not long after the events of “The Way of Water,” with the Sully family still reeling after the death of Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri’s (Zoe Saldaña) eldest son Neteyam (Jamie Flatters). There’s hardly time to mourn before a new threat emerges: a fiery Na’vi tribe led by Varang (Oona Chaplin), who’s allied with RDA forces. It all leads to a showdown that’s as visually stunning as the rest in James Cameron’s blockbuster series.

‘Alien: Romulus’ (HBO Max)
The vibe: A steady drip of dread and nightmare fuel monster designs
The latest terrifying Xenomorphs are invading HBO Max this weekend. Set between the events of the first two movies and directed by Fede Álvarez, “Alien: Romulus” follows a group of young space colonists who set out on their biggest scavenging haul yet and end up getting more than they bargained for. While scavenging a derelict spaceship for cryostasis equipment, the last component they need to make their dreams of escaping to their capitalist hellhole come true, the group comes face to face with the most terrifying life-forms in the universe. “Alien: Romulus” is the rare franchise revival done right, going back to the franchise’s roots to unnerve fans and newcomers alike.

‘Pizza Movie’ (Hulu)
The vibe: A surprisingly clever stoner comedy
“Pizza Movie” is quickly becoming one of 2026’s most-talked-about streaming releases, and for good reason. This offbeat stoner-comedy adventure starring “Stranger Things” breakout Gaten Matarazzo fully commits to its absurd premise, constantly pushing the limits of how ridiculous it can get just to land another joke. Without spoiling too much, the movie follows two college roommates (Matarazzo and Sean Giambrone) who take a mysterious drug called “M.I.N.T.S.” and experience a terrifying (and hilarious) hallucinogenic trip. The only way to counteract the drug is to eat pizza, but their quest to secure a pie takes them to places no one saw coming. It’s a pretty dumb concept on the surface, but it’s cleverly constructed and consistently funny enough that it’s definitely worth watching for some levity this weekend.

‘American Fiction’ (Prime Video)
The vibe: Character-driven comedy with jokes that bite
“American Fiction” is a biting satirical comedy that takes aim at the exploitation of Black stories in our society. Jeffrey Wright stars as struggling and disillusioned author Thelonious “Monk” Ellison, whose novels earn plenty of critical praise but hardly any revenue. After his latest manuscript is rejected for not being “black enough,” he pens an intentionally hackneyed book that panders to cliches expected of black literature. It becomes an instant bestseller, leaving Monk wrestling with a moral dilemma as the book’s sales help him afford much-needed care for his Alzheimer’s-stricken mother.

‘The Beekeeper’ (Hulu)
The vibe: A buzzy, pun-filled popcorn thriller with some solid action sequences
Once you’ve seen one Jason Statham action flick, you’ve seen them all, but they’re fun to turn your brain off and wile away a weekend afternoon. On paper, “The Beekeeper” is pure schlock, but its self-awareness and relentless pacing make it hard to resist. This time around, Statham stars as Adam Clay, a former member of a secret society of super soldiers known as Beekeepers, now living a literal beekeeper’s life. When scammers target his kind-hearted landlady, he embarks on a vengeance-fueled rampage, complete with inventive action sequences and a swarm of bee puns.
