New Movies Streaming
‘From the World of John Wick: Ballerina’ (2025)
The search engine optimization of movie titles continues apace with this Ana de Armas spinoff, which used to be just be called “Ballerina” until studio executives got worried that no one would know it was part of the John Wickiverse. The “Knives Out” actress plays Eve Macarro, a ballerina/assassin born into the Ruska Roma crime syndicate who longs to escape. There’s enough Keanu Reeves screentime to justify the inclusion of “John Wick” in the title, and Lance Reddick (“The Wire”) makes his final screen appearance as Charon, the concierge of the assassin-friendly Continental Hotel.
How to watch: “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina” is streaming on HBO Max.
‘Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice’ (2026)
Time travel and time loop movies have a remarkably high hit rate, whether they’re pitched as comedies (“Groundhog Day,” “Palm Springs”), action movies (“Edge of Tomorrow,” “Source Code”) or somewhere in between, like this new Vince Vaughn action-comedy. The “Old School” actor plays Nick, a hitman who travels back in time to help his buddy/colleague Mike (James Marsden), his wife Alice (Eiza Gonzalez), and his past self survive the night.
How to watch: “Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice” is streaming on Hulu.
‘Sentimental Value’ (2025)
Nominated for nine Oscars, “Sentimental Value” contains a novel’s worth of multi-generational family history in a single film, telling the story of a Norwegian film director father (Stellan Skarsgård) who reunites with his two estranged daughters (Renate Reinsve, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas) upon the death of his ex-wife. Skarsgard’s filmmaker is ready to direct a semi-autobiographical swan song, but when his daughter understandably refuses the lead role, he casts an eager American (Elle Fanning) instead.
How to watch: “Sentimental Value” is streaming on Hulu.
More new movies streaming: “Anaconda” (Netflix); “Anemone” (Netflix); “BTS: The Return” (Netflix); “Primate” (Paramount+)
New TV Shows Streaming
‘Bait’ (2026)
Amazon has fully wrested control of the James Bond franchise away from the Broccoli family, leading to renewed speculation about who will replace Daniel Craig in the long-running spy franchise. It probably won’t be Riz Ahmed (“The Night Of”), but the actor stars in this very funny series imagining what would happen if a British Pakistani actor working on the margins of showbiz was suddenly linked with the iconic role. Ahmed is excellent in the lead role, as is “Taskmaster” veteran Guz Khan as his entrepreneurial cousin.
How to watch: “Bait” is streaming on Prime Video.
‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2
Charlie Cox is back as blind lawyer turned masked hero Matt Murdock, though this time around his place in Marvel’s fictional NYC is less settled thanks to the ascendance of Daredevil’s archnemesis, Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio). Luckily he has the help of his fellow vigilante (and Netflix/Marvel holdover) Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter).
How to watch: “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2 is streaming on Disney+.
More new TV shows streaming: “For All Mankind” Season 5 (Apple TV); “House of David” Season 2 (Prime Video); “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen” (Netflix)
