66th Annual Southeast Colorado Regional Science Fair held in Lamar on February 11th – fourteen local students advance to state competition : The Prowers Journal


State qualifiers include: Ali Mooney, Lynnin Alba, Anmoldeep Gill, Adalyn Pettinger, Jaxson Specht, James Miller, Zeke Stulp, Ciyana Stum, Alexis Schneider, Haley Cornelius, Nelis Yanes, Priya Mayjoy, Osman Yanes, and Iziah Hebbard

On Wednesday, February 11th the Lamar Community Building was host to the 66th Annual Southeast Colorado Regional Science Fair. Eighty-nine students from second grade to high school age participated with their projects. Schools that were represented were Alta Vista Charter School, Lamar Middle School, Lamar High School, Parkview Elementary, Plainview, Vilas and Wiley Elementary School.

Judging took place from 9 a. m. to 11 a.m. Projects were examined for scientific method, real world application and oral presentation. After initial judging, a grand judge determines the qualifying projects for state. The Grand Judge also determines the Reserve and Grand Champion at each age level. Special Awards were given in the areas of forensics, dentistry, water and soil conservation.

The Colorado State Science & Engineering Fair takes place April 9th through 11th on the Colorado State University Campus in Fort Collins. Southeast Colorado Regional Science Fair will be sending fourteen students and twelve projects to represent our area at state. Southeast Regional Science fair is always looking for judges and sponsors for this event.
