As March arrives, HBO Max wants one thing from you, and that’s to be down to fooling around with all its new content debuting this month. The streaming platform kicks things off with two new series—one a salacious thriller turned mystery and the other a half-hour comedy show featuring Steve Carell. We’ll also see a new season of Lisa Kudrow’s comedy series, two new movie debuts, and two new documentaries.

DTF St. Louis
Led by an all-star cast that includes Jason Bateman, David Harbour, Linda Cardellini, Peter Sarsgaard, and Richard Jenkins, DTF St. Louis is a titillating dark comedy about a love triangle full of kinks… oh, and a murder.
The seven-episode limited series follows three middle-aged adults who are each stuck in their own melancholic vat of quicksand. To spice things up, Clark (Bateman) joins the fictional dating app DTF St. Louis and triggers a chaotic chain reaction of consequences. After having an affair with Carol (Cardellini), the wife of his longtime friend Floyd (Harbour), and later introducing Floyd to the app, betrayal, emotional fallout, and a mysterious death follow, shifting the tone of this thriller from satire to suspense. (For those not in the know, DTF stands for Down to ****).
While the premise may sound outrageous, its narrative explores the ways people confront their own insecurities and unmet desires, and its thematic examinations of infidelity, ego, male friendship, and the illusion of control are dangerously intriguing.

From Bleecker Street comes Fackham Hall, a must-see period spoof that serves as a cross between Downton Abbey, Airplane!, and Monty Python. Shall I save you a seat next to me?

Rooster
In Steve Carell’s new comedy series Rooster, the bond he shares with his daughter falls somewhere between intricate and complicated, but that’s what makes it so special. Created by Matt Tarses and Ted Lasso’s Bill Lawrence, Rooster is set against the backdrop of a college campus.
When popular fiction author Greg Russo (Carell) is invited to speak at the East Coast liberal arts college where his daughter Katie (Charly Clive of The Lazarus Project) teaches, he finds her in the midst of a personal crisis. After she found her husband—and colleague—cheating with a grad student, she retaliated by burning his house down. So, Dad steps in and makes a deal with the department’s dean (John C. McGinley): he’ll stick around as a guest lecturer if Katie can keep her job.
While the father-daughter bond serves as the show’s anchor, its workplace-sitcom vibes prove to be the sandbox of fun, so don’t miss out on watching HBO Max’s next comedic gem.

Fukushima: A Nuclear Nightmare is an HBO Original documentary chronicling the dynamic, catastrophic threat that was unleashed on Japan in March 2011.
After being struck by a 9.0-magnitude earthquake—the strongest ever recorded there—a tsunami of epic proportions devastated the country’s northeast coast. Over 20,000 lives were lost, and entire towns were washed away. However, that wasn’t the biggest threat. It seems the giant wave disabled the cooling systems of three reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
As radiation levels soared, hydrogen explosions ripped through the facility, forcing Japanese leaders to do the unthinkable and evacuate the entire city of Tokyo, which, at the time, contained 35 million people. This one is going to be an open-mouthed watch for sure. Keep your Kleenex handy.

The Comeback, Season Three
A solid decade after season two ended, Lisa Kudrow’s cringe-comedy series The Comeback returns for a third and final season. In case you’ve forgotten, the show tells the story of a B-list sitcom star so desperate to revive her career, she agrees to star in a reality show.
The new season finds Valerie Cherish (Kudrow) navigating Hollywood as she’s cast in the first-ever sitcom written by—wait for it—AI. The plot is said to tackle modern industry anxieties as Valerie battles to remain relevant in the face of rapidly learning AI technology and a studio head played by Fleabag’s Andrew Scott.

If you’re a fan of John Wick and his hardback book face-breaking techniques but haven’t yet had the chance to visit its spin-off, now’s your chance. From the World of John Wick: Ballerina is finally here.
Taking place between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Chapter 4, the movie centers on Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas of Knives Out), an assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma. After her father is murdered, Eve seeks revenge and boldly takes on an army of killers. While Eve is certainly no John Wick, she’s still a badass worthy of her title.
Fans of the franchise will be glad to know the spinoff movie features the franchise’s signature over-the-top stylish action and choreography, thrilling set pieces, and standout martial performances.
