Wednesday Morning Musicales members Pam Davis and Diana Frazier will present a program about the life and music of Andrew Lloyd Webber.
They will perform many of his songs and will be accompanied by Judy Smithgall on the piano.
This event will take place on Jan. 14 at 10:15 a.m. in the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center at 134 Main St., Wellsboro.
Andrew Lloyd Webber was born on March 22, 1948, in London England. He had a long standing collaboration with Tim Rice who wrote the lyrics for Webber’s musicals, including “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Evita.” Webber worked with many other lyricists as he has composed 21 musicals.
Many of his songs have been widely recorded and sung. He composed “Make a Joyful Noise” which was the coronation anthem for King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey on May 6, 2023.
WMM meets on the second Wednesday of each month, September through May. The organization was formed in 1934 to promote interest in music among its members and in the community. Each meeting showcases local talent. All events are free and open to the public. Just a reminder: If the schools in Wellsboro are on a delay, then the WMM meeting will be cancelled.
