Greek and Turkish government officials proceeded with the signing of a series of agreements in Ankara on Wednesday, within the framework of the 6th Supreme Council of Cooperation, advancing what both sides describe as a “positive agenda” for bilateral relations.
The agreements were concluded as Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis held talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, underscoring parallel diplomatic engagement at the highest level.
Ten Greek ministers held separate bilateral meetings with their Turkish counterparts in different rooms, reflecting a broader push to advance sector-level cooperation alongside the leaders’ private discussions.
Key initiatives include cooperation to promote bilateral investments and encouragement of a new ferry route linking Thessaloniki and İzmir to strengthen connectivity and tourism. The two sides also agreed to enhance coordination between their foreign ministries within the framework of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.
Additional accords cover joint action on earthquake preparedness and response, reflecting shared regional risks, as well as the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cultural cooperation.
A separate agreement advances scientific and technological collaboration between the Greek Ministry of Development and the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology.
Officials said the package of agreements aims to deepen practical cooperation across sectors while maintaining ongoing political dialogue between Athens and Ankara.
