Now, there were many things I was expecting to turn up at this evening’s PlayStation State of Play. A Resident Evil Requiem demo, for example (I am not annoyed we don’t have one yet, you are). One thing that wasn’t on my bingo card, though, was a John Wick game. But, that’s exactly what we got.
The upcoming John Wick game is a collaboration between Saber, Lionsgate, and franchise director Chad Stahelsk. It will feature an original script set in the John Wick timeline, which will expand “on the franchise’s intricate lore with familiar characters fans already know, as well as completely new ones”.
As for combat, well you can expect “a distinct gun fu combat system”. There will also be “jaw-dropping camerawork, immersive driving experiences, and a variety of memorable environments, all crafted to make players feel like they are in a John Wick movie, playing the role of John Wick himself”. Yes, that does mean Keanu Reeves is signed on to reprise his iconic character’s look, voice “and more”. Eats, shoots and leaves? More like, Eats, shoots and Reeves!
