PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Christine Jewett was appointed the new chief financial officer of Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS).

Jewett’s appointment was made official at the Feb. 12 Board of Education (BOE) meeting.

Jewett brings extensive public sector finance experience to her new role, most recently as the supervisor of finance in St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS). She also served as a budget analyst and an accountant for SMCPS and worked in the finance department at CCPS from 2007 to 2018. Jewett holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from LaSalle University and a master’s degree in management from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

During the remarks, Superintendent Marcus Newsome praised Jewett’s strong resume and positive reputation.

“So many of our people who got to work with her in the past are going to be so excited she’s coming back home,” Dr. Newsome said.

Jewett’s appointment was approved 4-0 by the board, and she accepted the appointment.

“I’m really excited to be back home and serve this community that I not only live in, but means a lot to me,” Jewett said following her appointment. “I promise to work collaboratively with the board to serve the students and the staff, and the mission of continued success in our great school district.”
