The Boston Celtics came into the All-Star break second in the Eastern Conference standings. Jaylen Brown has stepped up in the absence of Jayson Tatum to lead the Celtics to the second-best offense in the NBA. Brown was an All-Star for his efforts.

For the most part, Brown seemed to enjoy his time in Los Angeles for the All-Star Game. While he didn’t shoot the ball well during the round-robin format of the game, he still showed that he is a great player. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for Brown, however.

Brown tried to have an event in Beverly Hills with his business partner. Instead, it was shut down by the Beverly Hills Police Department. Brown was not happy, and decided to call out the Police Department after they issued a statement about the event.

Celtics Forward Jaylen Brown Crushes Beverly Hills Police Department

The Beverly Hills Police Department issued the following statement about Brown’s event that was eventually shut down.

“On Saturday, February 14, the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) responded to an event taking place at a private residence in the Trousdale neighborhood of the City. An event permit had been applied for and denied by the City due to previous violations associated with events at the address. Despite the fact that the permit was denied, organizers still chose to proceed with inviting hundreds of guests knowing that it was not allowed to occur.  BHPD responded and shut down the unpermitted event.”

When asked about the statement, Brown ripped it. He claims that the department is lying, and gave his version of events.

“That was not true. That was not true. We didn’t need a permit because the owner of the house, that was his space. We were family friends, so he opened up his festivities to us. We never applied for one. There was no permit ever applied for. Jim Jannard, he’s the the creator of Oakley. I’m a brand partner in Oakley. They opened up the house to me. They just opened it up. I had to pay for the build-out, which was hundreds of thousands of dollars wasted for an event that was supposed to be positive.”

Celtics’ Jaylen Brown Offended by Beverly Hills PD

Brown continued to talk about the statement the department released. He went as far as to say they lied in their statement.

“I’m offended by the statement they put out. Like we applied for something, didn’t get it, and did it anyway. Like we were insubordinate. I know how to follow the rules. I’m smart enough to follow the guidelines. It just seemed like somebody didn’t want whatever we had going on to go on, because out of everyone doing something, I was the only one to get shut down. So you tell me how I should feel about it.”

Brown was not pleased about this turn of events. He rarely gets this fired up about issues, but he believes they were attacking his character. This incident doesn’t seem like it’s over, as the police department likely won’t like what Brown had to say.
