Society of Composers, Inc. (SCI) Conference held at App State March 20-21; events free to public

On Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21, the Hayes School of Music and Appalachian State University will host the 2026 Region IV Conference of the Society of Composers, Inc. Students, faculty/staff, and the public are welcome to attend events free of charge!

Hayes School of Music ensembles and faculty will perform new music throughout the event. Out of 126 composers from across the region who submitted work through SCI’s competitive process, 31 will have their music performed at the conference. The conference will also include a paper session, a Dolby Atmos room listening session, and a special session about Tui St. George Tucker by Dr. Nick Cline.

Friday, March 20

  • 7 pm – Conference Registration/Check-in for composers
  • 8 pm – Concert 1, Rosen Concert Hall

Saturday, March 21

  • 9 am – Conference Registration/Check-in for composers
  • 10 am – Paper Session, Broyhill 214
  • 11 am – Concert 2, Rosen Concert Hall
  • 12-2 pm – Dolby Atmos Listening Room session
  • 2 pm – Concert 3, Rosen Concert Hall
  • 4 pm – Concert 4, Schaffel Recital Hall
  • 7 pm – Concert 5, Rosen Concert Hall
  • 8 pm – Conference Closing Gathering
