Feb. 19 (UPI) — New Regency announced Thursday that Fight Club will return to theaters for one night only on April 22. The film has been restored in 4K.
The theatrical re-release will be followed by a 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD release May 12. New Regency and Insight Editions are also publishing a 25th Anniversary book for the 1999 film.
Fight Club starred Edward Norton as an unnamed businessman who meets soap salesman Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) on a flight. Durden proposes a fight in a parking lot which becomes an organized anarchist club.
The fight club becomes Project Mayhem as Durden deploys members to commit terrorist acts against the establishment. Meat Loaf and Jared Leto play members of the club, and Helena Bonham Carter the woman who comes between them.
The derogatory term “snowflake” comes from Fight Club as Durden lectures his recruits that they are “not a beautiful or unique snowflake.”
Jim Uhis adapted Chuck Palahniuk’s book. David Fincher directed.
20th Century Fox released Fight Club in 1999. The film is now part of the Disney library since their 2019 merger.
