As expected, Foo Fighters will release their 12th studio album ahead of a summer stadium tour, with Your Favorite Toy set to arrive April 24 through Roswell/RCA. The title cut is available now; a number of other new song snippets already appeared on the band’s web site, which in recent days was redesigned to depict a bedroom covered in Foos memorabilia.
Frontman Dave Grohl says “Your Favorite Toy” was “really was the key that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album. We stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day it took shape I knew that we had to follow its lead. It was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording for this record. It feels new.”
Co-produced by the band and Oliver Roman, the album also includes the previously released “Asking for a Friend” and “Unconditional.” The latter was first played live in summer 2024 before the Foos suddenly left the road following the revelation that Grohl had fathered a child outside of his marriage.
Your Favorite Toy is the follow-up to 2023’s But Here We Are, which debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and found Grohl picking up the drum sticks following the sudden death of Taylor Hawkins the year prior. The new album is the first to include new drummer Ilan Rubin, who joined the band last summer after the dismissal of Josh Freese and quickly became a fan favorite during a run of rarities-packed club shows before year’s end.
After one-off festival appearances at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Fl. (May 8) and BottleRock in Napa, Ca. (May 23), the Foos will be back on tour starting June 10 in Oslo. A previously announced North American stadium leg kicks off Aug. 4 in Toronto and will be followed by Australian shows in November, plus a visit to New Zealand in January 2027.
The band will also be backed by the LA Philharmonic for a special Aug. 22 concert at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, during which they will “draw from era-defining hits accompanied by the heft and grace of one of the world’s great orchestras.”
