Netflix subscribers have quite a few excellent new arrivals on the streaming service to watch this weekend, and two of them have already managed to climb the streamer’s charts in the United States. On last weekend’s Netflix movie recommendations, I delved into State of Fear, The Black Phone, and How to Train Your Dragon.
This weekend’s Netflix movie recommendations are more intense, with all three of them featuring plenty of action, though one of the releases is as heartbreaking as they come. Viewers can expect one of the best movies to ever be available on Netflix, as well as the start of an epic action franchise and a nerve-wracking survival thriller.
3
Fall (2022)
To start the list is Fall, the 2022 survival thriller that is the best performer out of three movies so far on Netflix. At the time of writing, Fall, which was released on Netflix in the United States on February 19, is the 2nd most-watched movie on Netflix nationwide. Clearly, audiences are being drawn to the film with a 79% critics’ score and audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fall follows the story of Grace Caroline Currey (Shazam!) as Becky and Virginia Gardner (All the Bright Places) as Hunter. The best friends are expert climbers who decide to go up an abandoned 20000-foot radio tower in the middle of the desert to get one of them out of a battle with depression.
While the climb is not that hard, they soon find themselves trapped at the top of the structure. Their battle for survival and to find a way down makes for an intense watch that will get Netflix subscribers’ adrenaline pumping.
2
The Expendables (2010)
To keep that adrenaline high this weekend, the next best movie to watch on our Netflix marathon is The Expendables. All four movies in the star-studded action franchise arrived on Netflix in the United States on February 20. Several action stars are part of the franchise’s first entry, including Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and many more.
The Expendables 5: Will It Happen? Everything We Know
Expendables 5 is likely several years away, but that doesn’t mean speculation hasn’t started around the fifth chapter of the Expendables franchise.
The Expendables spares no expenses with its intricate, explosive, creative, and wildly entertaining action set pieces. The franchise is every action movie fan’s dream, and its first entry is the perfect start for this dynamic ride. The film follows a team of skilled mercenaries as they try to overthrow a dictator, soon finding themselves involved in a major conspiracy.
1
The Iron Claw (2023)
Finally, this sports drama is one of the hardest movies to get through. That does not mean that The Iron Claw is bad in any way, quite the opposite, as the movie should have been nominated for several Academy Awards, and its being snubbed is a tragedy. The film follows the iconic Von Erich wrestling family.
Several members of the family die throughout the movie, giving the audience and the remaining characters a gut-punch after another. This is Zac Efron’s best performance of his career so far in the lead role of Kevin Von Erich, with a nuanced character study that tugs at viewers’ heartstrings.
Not a dry eye will be left at the end of the film, which boasts a 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The Iron Claw‘s cast also includes names like Jeremy Allen White (The Bear), Lily James (Cinderella), and Holt McCallany (Mindhunter). The movie arrived on Netflix in the US on February 19 and is already its 7th most-watched. All three films are intense movies to watch on Netflix.
