Free Music Friday: Kylee Shipp

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – This week’s Free Music Friday features Kylee Shipp, a soulful vocalist and vocal coach whose music is rooted in faith, personal experience and a lifelong love of singing.

Shipp says she has been singing for as long as she can remember, crediting her father with sparking her passion for music.

“My dad sang hymns in the car for like four hours straight,” she said. “So I learned how to harmonize and sing with my family that way.”

She went on to study music in school and began writing her own songs, drawing inspiration from powerhouse vocalists like Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

“The ones who can really make you feel something and who can wow you with their voice — I’ve just always loved those types of singers,” Shipp said.

Her performance features “Restore My Soul,” an original song she wrote in college about her personal struggle with anxiety and the hope she finds in her faith.

“This song is about God bringing me through those times and being close to me even in the midst of those difficult times and being a constant hope in my life,” she said.

Shipp is available for local performances and can be found on Spotify and Apple Music. Those interested in booking her can reach out through her Instagram or Facebook.
