Black fashion takes center stage at Meadowood runway show | News

MADISON (WKOW) — The Meadowood Neighborhood Center in Madison hosted a runway show Friday celebrating Black fashion and its cultural impact.

Models showcased styles from the 1970s to the present, highlighting influential fashion eras. Students helped organize the event and walked in the show.

Leaders say the goal is to share the cultural significance of Black History Month and recognize the influence of Black heritage on the fashion and music industries.

“There may be people here who were never exposed to Black fashion or didn’t realize some of these influences came from Black culture,” said Tauri Robinson, director of the MSCR Meadowood Neighborhood Center.

Organizers add the event brings people from diverse backgrounds together to experience and appreciate those contributions.
