JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Southern Bank Corp held its annual Super Saturday Tax Filing event on Saturday at St. Bernards Auditorium, offering Jonesboro community members free tax preparation and a range of additional financial resources.
Residents could bring their tax paperwork and have their taxes prepared at no cost. Certified financial counselors were also on site to answer questions.
“Once you get those filed, we have certified financial counselors on staff and here today to talk you through what questions you may have about your finances or financial circumstances,” said Kenya Gordon, president of Southern Bank Corp Community Partners.
Additional services available at the event
Gordon said the event is designed to give community members access to resources and protect them from predatory lending.
“We do this because we know how important it is to have that resource and not be taken advantage of by payday lenders to get their finances in order. We recognize that for this community,” Gordon said.
In addition to tax preparation and financial counseling, legal services, record sealing, and health screenings were also available at the event.
