Creve Coeur Science Center conducts controlled fire to prairie

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -A controlled fire on Saturday afternoon shows how it can restore the native habitat of a prairie.

The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in Creve Coeur held a controlled fire of six acres of native Missouri prairie.

According to the center, controlled fires curb woody encroachment and invasive plants. It also helps recycle nutrients, support native plant diversity and wildlife habitat.
