World-renowned electronic music artist and continuous bastion of influence for studio producers everywhere, deadmau5 is gearing up 2026 with new music. Following last year’s instrumental track “Ameonna,” the masked music maker returns with a new vocal single, “Science,” featuring Stevie Appleton, out now on mau5trap.
London’s own, renowned singer/songwriter/producer Stevie Appleton is one of music’s fastest growing talents known for his distinctive tone and melodic writing, which can be heard on “Science.” He’s a versatile collaborator for the legendary artist, bringing color, energy, and a unique vocal identity to a work that stands up against deadmau5’ most memorable vocal-driven songs such as “The Veldt,” “Raise Your Weapon,” “Bridged By A Lightwave,” and with Kaskade the iconic “I Remember” and Top 40 radio smash “Escape” (as Kx5).
Shares deadmau5:
“Steve sent the vocal through, thought it was neat so I made a track with it.”
Adds Stevie Appleton:
“I found there ended up being a nice simplicity in ‘Science.’ There was a lot more in the song before I cut it down to just four lines, each of which I feel like carry a certain feeling. Is it a dark energy, a loving one? It’s a bit of a mystery and I wanted to keep it that way. What deadmau5 has done with the production and the continuation of the songwriting is incredible. I’ve worked with a lot of big DJ/producers and gotten versions back of songs I’ve started on a piano, but this one was a different game. It should be a marker for the quality young producers are trying to achieve. I’m excited for the world to hear what we’ve made, especially the full 9.30m length version, it takes you on a ride like a piece of cinema.”
