There was plenty of the normal drama across yesterday’s five Premier League fixtures, before all eyes turned to the Etihad Stadium in the evening to see if Manchester City could close the gap to Arsenal to two points.
A pair of Nico O’Reilly goals, either side of Lewis Hall’s equaliser, were enough to see them over the line, thanks also to a determined defensive end in the closing minutes.
Elsewhere, another red card for Chelsea cost them a win against a team they really should have beaten, while Brighton’s James Milner broke the Premier League appearance record with his 654th game in the competition.
These are the results from Saturday’s matches:
- Aston Villa 1-1 Leeds (Abraham; Stach)
- Brentford 0-2 Brighton (Gomez, Welbeck)
- Chelsea 1-1 Burnley (Joao Pedro; Flemming)
- West Ham 0-0 Bournemouth
- Manchester City 2-1 Newcastle (O’Reilly 2; Hall)
