Investors will be listening closely for any commentary on tariffs, Trump imposing a 15% global tariff after the Supreme Court struck down a big chunk of his tariff agenda.
00:23 Speaker A
What do you expect him to say about the economy and some of the issues that we’ve been talking about here?
00:27 Speaker B
Well, there’s the the speech that the White House speech writers are going to load into the teleprompter, uh, and then there’s what the words that are actually going to come out of President Trump’s mouth. We know he loves to go uh off script.
00:41 Speaker B
I think the speech, you know, if it goes according to plan, it’ll focus on the big beautiful bill tax cuts, which folks are going to start to feel very soon here through the uh tax refunds. It’ll focus on President Trump’s uh efforts with the pharmaceutical companies to lower prescription drug prices. He’ll probably talk about affordability also when it comes to energy, uh when it comes to housing, um and try to uh, you know, sell his his his kind of economic story and economic message.
01:09 Speaker B
Now, that that’s sort of the game plan and I do think you’ll see a decent bit of that. Uh, but then there are going to be some wild cards, right? I think, you know, getting back to the earlier point, does Trump want to use it as a moment to try to send a signal to Iran about how serious he is, that’s possible. The uh Supreme Court Justices will be in the front row, does Trump want to send a message to them about what he thinks about their tariff uh decision?
01:31 Speaker B
So, uh, I think there’s kind of the the base case, which is around economic policy and very focused on the sort of affordability narrative leading into the mid-terms. Uh, but we know with Trump it could go any number of uh, any number of different directions.
