Peoria Housing Authority CFO fired, CEO resigns following alleged ‘financial irregularities’

PEORIA (25News Now) – Sweeping leadership changes are happening at the Peoria Housing Authority after an active investigation showed “financial discrepancies” involving the company’s Chief Financial Officer.

Although details about the alleged financial irregularities are sparse, board members said the severity of the matter required, “immediate termination” of the CFO.

Due to the case being an active investigation, the PHA cannot provide any more information, including how long the alleged financial discrepancies have been happening, nor how many members of the nonprofit were implicated.

Additionally, in what the board called an unrelated matter, Armeca Crawford, the PHA’s chief executive officer, resigned from her position. In her place, the board appointed Damon Duncan to take over as interim CEO.

Duncan brings more than 30 years of experience to the role. He previously served as a public housing executive, affordable housing developer, and a consultant.

Peoria Police are leading the active investigation. While that is ongoing, the PHA ensured residents that programs will continue to operate as normal with zero disruptions.

PHA works to aid thousands of Peoria County residents.
