What shows do you host on KGNU and how long have you been with the station?
I host the Afternoon Sound Alternative on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month, plus Electronic Air on random Saturday nights! I consider myself incredibly lucky to be a part of KGNU, and it’s been 2.5 of the bestest best years.
Who is your favorite artist and/or album of all time?
This answer is dependent on the day and hour! My “favorite” is not one but like a thousand +. But a few of my all time top favorites are Julia Holter’s Have You In My Wilderness, PJ Harvey’s Let England Shake, The Unicorns’ Who Will Cut Our Hair When We’re Gone and The Wedding Present’s Take Fountain.
What is your Zodiac sign and what (if anything) does it say about you?
I am a Capricorn Sun + Sagittarius Moon + Sagittarius Rising. This kind of says EVERYTHING about me – I am grounded and practical and a lone goat climbing my own mountain slow and steady…AND I am super energetic and passionate and idealistic and always flying high in the sky and all over the place, because you only live once…
If you could have any musician’s record collection, whose would it be?
I’d take HAAi’s record collection any day, or Jon Hopkins, or Danny L Harle’s. I’d also take Heba Kadry’s (mastering engineer) or John DeVore’s (of Devore Fidelity Speakers) or Nico Tobón’s (Denver DJ) or Iris Berkeley’s collection (KGNU DJ!) or Felicitous Music’s collection (Denver record seller and vinyl lover) Yeah, how about all of those collections? Plus my own and then I will feel complete….ha!
What song do you never get tired of playing on air?
I am committed to not ever playing a song I don’t personally love on air, so pretty much any song I ever play?? But if I had to pick, I’d say Vertigo by L’ Eclair because it is the perfect song with something in it for every type of music lover. And also Teleharmonic by The Smile because it so incredibly soul-filled and beautiful and also Hollow Body by Saadi, the perfect pop song., and also also also…!!!
What is something most people would be surprised to learn about you?
On air, I tend to sound calm and really chill. It’s just how I get when a microphone is in front of me. But if you met me in real-life, I am pretty high-energy and excitable and less “I love this song, it’s beautiful”….and more “OMG This is the best song ever OMG can you believe it OMG stars unicorns OMG the best ever!!!!!!!”
