Russell Westbrook is in the midst of his 18th NBA season, one that began with uncertainty about his future. After declining his player option with the Denver Nuggets, speculation swirled about whether retirement was on the table. Instead, Westbrook signed with the Sacramento Kings, betting on himself once again.
The 37-year-old guard has responded with one of his steadier statistical campaigns in recent memory. He is averaging 15.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game in 2025-26 – his most productive all-around numbers since his final season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Individually, Westbrook has remained impactful and durable, continuing to climb career leaderboards, and has become a veteran leader in a young locker room.

Unfortunately, his play has not translated into team success as the Kings sit 12-46, last in the Western Conference.

On Saturday, they dropped their 16th straight game, a 139-122 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, continuing their longest losing streak in franchise history. With 24 games remaining, Sacramento is on the brink of missing the postseason for a third consecutive year despite adding experienced talent alongside Westbrook.
Amid the team’s struggles, Westbrook has also leaned into the business side of his life. On Monday, he posted a message to fans encouraging them to continue following his business career.

“What‘s up LinkedIn family, it’s Brodie here. 2025 wrapped up,” Westbrook said via his business page on Instagram. “I just want to check in and say thank you for following me on my LinkedIn. I appreciate you guys keeping up and locked in with what I got going on on the business side. 2026 is gonna be an amazing year. So many great things coming. Continue following and why not?!”
Off the court, Westbrook has built a significant portfolio. He maintains his long-standing partnership with Jordan Brand and has expanded into fashion, media and entrepreneurial ventures. His Why Not? Foundation continues to focus on youth education, family empowerment and community outreach initiatives.

While Sacramento searches for answers on the floor, Westbrook will hope he can help the team turn things around in a short window. The Kings will attempt to avoid a 17th straight loss when they travel to face the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.
