The Spanish side will aim to secure a positive result and progress to the Round of 16, but must do so without Mbappe in their ranks. The France international, who is the leading scorer in this season’s Champions League with 13 goals, will not be risked.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Real Madrid’s medical staff do not want to take any chances, with Mbappe have suffered from knee discomfort in recent days. The forward has scored 38 goals in all competitions this season.

Gonzalo Garcia is expected to be given the nod at centre-forward in Mbappe’s absence.
