The European Commission has approved Greece’s 400-million-euro state aid program aimed at clean technology investments through direct grants and tax incentives.
The beneficiaries are primarily manufacturers of electric vehicle (EV) batteries, solar panels, wind turbines, heat pumps, green hydrogen production systems and carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies. The scheme also covers the production or recovery of critical raw materials necessary for the manufacturing of these technologies.
The program runs until 31 December 2030 and is available to companies operating within Greece.
“The sustainable transition is not only about producing clean energy, but also about strengthening the domestic production base for the technologies that support it – from batteries and heat pumps to hydrogen and carbon capture technologies,” said Stavros Papastavrou, Minister of Environment and Energy. “The new framework will enhance the competitiveness of Greek industry and reduce our dependence on imports of critical raw materials.”
