Music Notes • The Austin Chronicle

alexsucks

Friday 27, Brushy Street Commons

These Los Angeles-based alt-rockers, led by frontman Alex Alvarez, play the second stop on their tour supporting fresh album Autopilot. The nine-track project, which was just released last Friday, intrigues with its raw vocals and garage rock-esque sound. Salt Lake City act dogma society supports.

Kylie Hernandez

Friday 27, Cactus Cafe

UT senior Kylie Hernandez sings country music with an old-school flair containing sprinkles of Dolly Parton’s twang. She’ll perform unreleased tracks at this show in addition to her new single, “Good Ole Fashioned Country Love Song.”

BARTLY

Thursday 5, C-Boy’s Heart & Soul

Can locals go two-for-two on the national stage? Competing currently on American Idol, singer-songwriter BARTLY looks to achieve success similar to that of America’s Got Talent finalist Mama Duke. So far, so good: The Texas State alum earned a golden ticket to Hollywood Nashville during last week’s episode after an impressive rendition of Khruangbin and Leon Bridges’ “Texas Sun.” Seeing as how he turned a bad breakup into an electric tune booming with soul (“Worth the Prize”), that’s no surprise. Catch him on SoCo after THEBROSFRESH perform – and before a potential breakout.
