On Monday, February 16, Marco Island Academy’s Science National Honor Society (SNHS) members were welcomed to the NCH Judith and Marvin Herb Family Simulation Center. Tesa-Ann Smith, Coordinator Standardized Patient and Simulation, Meredith Burt, Simulation Education Specialist, MSN RN, Hope Goodwin, Director of Operations, RN MSN CHSE, and Dr. Read Quarles shared their career paths in the medical field while highlighting the culture and benefits of working for NCH. The students were then provided a tour of the over 12,000 square feet, state-of-the-art, high-tech facility, including exam rooms, operating rooms, and Immersive Interactive room. Students were provided with ways they could further connect with NCH for those interested in careers in the medical field.
Other SNHS field experiences this year included a trip to the Collier County Landfill & Recycling Center, a trip on the Dolphin Explorer to meet some of our local resident dolphins, and Arthrex’s Career Showcase. In April, we will be attending the Physics of Disney Parks workshop at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to close out our year.
