Aaron Gordon #32 of the Denver Nuggets exits the game due to injury in the first quarter of the game against the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center on November 21, 2025 in Houston, Texas.
The Denver Nuggets could get Aaron Gordon back imminently. Just days after Nuggets head coach David Adelman noted that Gordon was “day-to-day” in his recovery from his hamstring strain, the athletic forward was seen in good spirits during his team’s 103-84 victory over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.
Furthermore, per a video shared by Nuggets blogger Tatiana, Gordon was spotted walking in the tunnel and embracing his teammates before the game. This is a particularly crucial development, as Gordon has reportedly been away from his teammates during his rehab, especially during game days. Tatiana speculated that his appearance at the team huddle could be a sign of his imminent return.
Aaron Gordon Injury Update
Earlier this week, Adelman confirmed that Gordon was on the verge of a return.
“He did basically everything but the contact stuff,” Adelman said after Tuesday’s practice, via Jared Koch of Sports Illustrated.
“He got up and down the script. We did some situational defensive drills. He was a part of that, but it’s just going to be a day-by-day thing. I think the more he gets out there, just gets up and down and plays with contact, even if it’s against our coaches, that would bring more confidence for everybody to feel comfortable with him coming back.”
“Aaron’s been great. He’s understood the process. And I think you all understand how frustrating this has been for him. He sees us losing games that he could be a part of. He sees us winning games that were completely joyful like Portland where everything went our way, and he’s not a part of either. So, he understands the process. He also understands how important he is to this group, and how he completes us. But we have to make sure he’s right.”
“Just going to do everything we can to get him right for that last stretch to make him feel comfortable going into some huge games.”
Nuggets Won’t Rush AG Back
It’s understandable that Adelman said the Nuggets won’t bring Gordon back until they “make sure he’s right,” given that the franchise previously brought him back too soon earlier in the season. Gordon, who initially suffered his grade 2 hamstring strain on Nov. 21, returned to the lineup for the Jan. 4 clash against the Boston Celtics. However, he would last only nine games before re-aggravating the injury on Jan. 24.
At the time, Adelman said Gordon was “optimistic” his hamstring injury was not as severe as the one earlier in the season, but sympathized with his star forward.
“I feel for him,” Adelman said of Gordon, via Bennett Durando of The Denver Post.
“He’s optimistic it’s not as bad as it was, the last one. But we won’t know until we get it actually tested.”
The Nuggets are also dealing with injuries to Peyton Watson (hamstring) and an illness to star guard Jamal Murray, who left the court in the first quarter of Wednesday’s game and did not return. While Watson is projected to return in mid-March, Murray is not expected to miss much time due to his illness.
Once healthy, the Nuggets are viewed as the biggest threat to the Oklahoma City Thunder’s quest to repeat as NBA champions. To that end, ESPNBet has given them the second-shortest odds to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy this June.
