Runway Remix: Fashion in Focus

Have you ever wondered how artists take their ideas from inspiration to creation? The newest exhibit in the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery, Runway Remix: Fashion in Focus, examines the artistic process through the lens of clothing and fashion. Seven artists developed original pieces of wearable fiber art inspired by pieces from the library’s permanent art collection.

You’ll view the inspiration art pieces next to the pieces created for this exhibit to see the conversations between artists. Explore how artists channel elements such as colors, textures and design to make parallels between artworks. For this exhibition artists documented elements of their creative process that are normally left behind-the-scenes allowing you to follow the creative process from its beginnings to the final pieces in the gallery.

You will learn about the skill and craft of textile and fiber artists. Hands-on elements including a weaving loom, a sewing machine, and activities about sewing patterns and fabric choices guide you through the experiences of making one-of-a-kind pieces.
