Deputy Minister of Tourism Anna Karamanli hosted on Wednesday at the ministry a delegation from the American Hellenic Institute (AHI), the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) and Jewish organization B’nai B’rith International, as part of their official joint mission to Greece.
The delegation included, among others, the President and CEO of the American Hellenic Institute, Nicholas Larigakis, the Chairman of AHI, James Lagos, and the President of the Athens Branch of AHI, Rear Admiral (retd.) Vasilios Kyriazis. AHEPA was represented by its Supreme Chairman Emmanuel (Chris) Kaitson and high-ranking executives of the organization. B’nai B’rith International was represented by its President Robert Spitzer as well as members of the organization’s top international leadership.
The Greek Deputy Minister underlined the important role of the organizations that participated in the mission, noting that through their international networks and institutional presence they contribute to strengthening relations between countries and to promoting Greece as a modern and high-quality tourist destination.
In the context of the meeting, the delegation raised the importance of further strengthening air connectivity between Greece and the US, with particular reference to the role of direct flights throughout the year in strengthening tourism traffic from the American market and extending the tourism season.
At the same time, the significant prospects for the development of special forms of tourism were discussed, such as wine tourism, sports tourism, cultural, medical and wellness tourism, sectors in which Greece has significant comparative advantages and growing international interest.
