A School’s Out program at Crossroads at Big Creek will explore the science of sliding on Friday, Feb. 27, at 2 pm.
Weather permitting, the event will be an outdoor experience with sleds and kicksleds. Alternative indoor activities will be offered in the lab. The event is geared toward elementary students but open to all ages.
Another family program, Science Saturday, takes place the next day, Feb. 28, at 2 pm. Families will explore the math and folklore behind why February usually has 28 days, with an extra day every four years.
Monday, March 2, brings a movie matinee to Crossroads at 1:30 pm. The educational screening tells the story of Midwest conservationist Aldo Leopold and his family.
Later that day, at 5 pm, new and seasoned Crossroads volunteers can learn about upcoming opportunities at a volunteer mixer.
An after-school Nature Investigators program will meet at Crossroads on Tuesday, March 3, at 3:30 pm. Geared towards elementary students but open to all, the program will investigate predator/prey relationships through games and simulations.
A naturalist will lead a Wandering Wednesday hike through Crossroads on March 4, at 1:30 pm.
