As Black History Month comes to a close, Opera Carolina is highlighting the impact of Black artists in the music world. The event will celebrate the enduring contributions of African American singers and composers to opera and classical music.

The “Lift Every Voice and Sing” concert will be held Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Carolina Theater.

You can also catch MJ the Musical at Blumenthal Arts throughout the weekend. Be sure to tune into tomorrow’s show, where we speak with one of the performers.

Also on Saturday, the Charlotte Hornets face the Portland Trail Blazers at 1 p.m. It’s HBCU Day, and the Spectrum Center will celebrate the culture and history of HBCUs along with the Divine Nine fraternities and sororities.
