Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’ fall 2026 collection for Prada, showcased during Milan Fashion Week on Thursday, was a studying in layering, an approach which extended down to the .

Similar to the Fendi collection presented the day before, the Prada collection placed a major emphasis on statement socks. Knee-high socks in black or white complemented pointed pumps and derby shoes alike, with a playful floral pattern or delicate crochet design at the lower level. The Prada family has been known to get playful in this realm, with Miu Miu using cut-off socks that didn’t cover the toes in a past collection.

While the models drew attention in the Prada fall 2026 show as they shed their layers to reveal different outfits, the footwear stuck around to complement each look. One of the standout styles was a feathered periwinkle blue boot with a skin-tight shaft, pointed toe and low block heel; yellow laces criss-crossed up the silhouette, looping around corset-like hooks.

The edgy Victorian-like corset lacing was applied to other silhouettes as well, including the vamps of kitten-heel pumps which were presented in different colors and even with feathers.
Reviewing the show for WWD, Miles Socha noted how the accessories contrasted the intentional messiness of the clothing: “As a foil to all that imperfection were hyper-luxurious accessories: petite bucket and top-handle bags in polished alligator, and tall, lace-up boots dangling beaded gewgaws, or completely paved in feathers.”
To that end, there were also ornately embellished pumps in striking ruby red or canary yellow dangling with beads and stones lending a delicate jewelry or chandelier-like quality to the shoes. A yellow knee-high boot received this treatment as well.
Socha reported that Prada explicated backstage “that the layering and un-layering was to express ‘the continuous necessity of change’ and how a woman navigates them and reflects them with her clothes.”
