AMC Theatres began back in 1920 as a small, family-run movie business started by the Dubinsky brothers. Over time, it grew into a huge name in the theater world by upgrading the movie experience with things like stadium seating and luxury recliners.

Through expansion and buying up other chains, AMC became the biggest movie theater company in the U.S., staying competitive by focusing on making trips to the movies feel special.

According to the Patch article, “We will continue to take actions to close theaters, to reduce leases as we go forward,” Chief Financial Officer Sean Goodman said.Goodman said the leases at around 85 locations are up for renewal this year.
