The Music Producers Guild – in association with Dolby and Mix With The Masters – will honour The 1975 with the PPL Present The MPG Award For Outstanding Contribution To UK Music.
This is a gifted award by the MPG Awards Committee and is presented to a person or group who has made an outstanding contribution to the music industry. Previous winners include Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim), FKA Twigs, Susan Rogers, Joan Armatrading, Fraser T Smith, Hugh Padgham, Youth, Paul Epworth and George Martin.
The MPG said The 1975 have established themselves as one of the defining bands of their generation with their distinctive aesthetic, ardent fanbase and unique sonic approach.
“Across five consecutive UK No.1 albums, George Daniel & Matty Healy have played an increasingly central production role, developing a studio approach that has had a huge influence on a generation of producers in the way they handle texture, arrangement and the blurring of genre boundaries from studio to stage helping the band achieve multiple BRIT Awards and Grammy nominations, and headline tours and festivals worldwide,” said a statement.

Emma Townsend, executive director of The MPG, said: “The 1975 have fundamentally reshaped the relationship between artist and producer in modern music. George Daniel and Matty Healy have approached production not simply as a technical process, but as a core creative discipline, developing a sonic identity that is unmistakable, ambitious and deeply influential.
“Their work as a band alongside Adam [Hann] and Ross [MacDonald] has inspired a new generation of artists, music makers, producers to think beyond genre conventions and embrace production as an art form in its own right. It is a privilege to recognise their outstanding contribution to UK music and amazing catalogue of work up until this point as we get ready for their next chapter.”
Peter Leathem OBE, CEO of PPL, said: “We are delighted to honour The 1975 with the Outstanding Contribution To UK Music Award at the MPG Awards 2026. The 1975 have shaped the distinctive sound of a generation, with an innovative blend of music that brings together indie rock, pop and electronic in a unique and captivating way.
