A Cape Coral event that welcomes a combination of music and arts to the South Cape takes place this Saturday night for the first time this season.
The city’s Parks and Recreation Department will presents the Cape Coral Music & Arts Fusion Walk on Feb. 28, from 5 to 9 p.m. along Southeast 47th Terrace.
The city invites the community to enjoy a family-friendly showcase of local musicians and artists, going down between Vincennes Boulevard and Southeast 15th Avenue.
“We think we’re a solid art community,” said city Special Events Coordinator, Todd King. “We think that there are a lot of amazing artisans in our town and we give them an opportunity to come out and share their works with the with the community. We also like to create nuances that allow the local street performers or the buskers to share and entertain their talents from juggling to aerobatics, because we think art comes in many forms and we like to have all forms represented.”
The event will feature pop-up shops by local artists that showcase everything from handmade jewelry to paintings.
Artists, designers, and makers with high-quality, handmade, original work are invited to participate in the Cape Coral Music and Arts Fusion Walk.
Acceptable categories are candles, clay, digital, glass, jewelry, leather, living plants, mixed media, paintings, photography, soaps/lotions, and woodwork.
“It gives attendees an opportunity experience the South Cape,” King said. “To explore the talented people we have that create beautiful pieces, and just enjoy an evening and have a good time.”
For the street performers, the city contracts with a talent agency that provides a variety of different performers. Artisans also apply with the city to be able to showcase their works with the crowd.
“The excitement is in the ambiance of the evening and the exposure to some cool crafts and arts that we have here in the city,” King said.
Entertainment on the evening will include: Collin Roberts, Citrus Circus, Brittany Sparkles Hula Hoops, Logan Light Magician, Jase Juggler, and more.
Parking can be found at Big John’s Plaza, Iguana Mia, Club Square, and the old military museum.
The next Music and Arts Fusion Walk will be held on March 14.
