Jennifer Garner Says Her Kids Were ‘Tortured’ by One of Her Movies

Growing up with Jennifer Garner as a mom hasn’t always been easy for her three kids. The Alias alum revealed that one of her iconic films “tortured” her kids Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 13, and we feel for them!

In a Feb. 26 appearance on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast, Garner revealed that her kids all struggled around the time they were 13 because of her 13 Going on 30 movie.

“Well, they went through some tortured years where they were turning 13, and [13 Going on 30] was showing up at birthday parties a lot or sleepovers, and the parents thought, ‘Oh, this will be a fun thing.’ And my kids were, first of all, mortified,” Garner said. “And second of all, so upset to see me sad, so upset to see me being in love … and, also, it’s just so cringe.”

“So, I got a couple of calls from sleepovers, like, ‘I think I have a headache’. And I’m like, ‘A headache? You’ve never had a headache,’ but you need me to get you, okay,” she added.

As someone who loved that movie growing up, I can only imagine how much worse it would be to see it surrounded by friends and know that that’s your mom!

This isn’t the first time Garner have admitted her kids, who she shares with ex Ben Affleck, think she’s “cringe.” Earlier this month, The Last Thing He Told Me star went on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where she said her kids don’t think she’s cool.

“My kids do not — I mean, I am fully cringe,” Garner said. “I am only embarrassing. I asked my kids if they were going to watch this season of the show, and they were like, ‘Do you need us to?’” Garner said with a laugh.

“But I mean, kids don’t want to see their parents, right?” she added. “They don’t want to see us cry or have a romantic scene or anything. We’re just embarrassing.”

I guess even being a celebrity doesn’t make you immune from being cringe! Hopefully they’ll appreciate her when they got older, though.
