With a deep sense of ecclesiastical responsibility and fraternal concern for the sacred institutions of Orthodoxy, the Permanent Holy Synod of the Church of Greece has addressed the Holy Archdiocese of Athens and all Holy Metropolises of the country, reminding them of their enduring duty to support the historic Patriarchal and Sinaitic establishments.
Particularly during the blessed season of the Holy and Great Lent, the Synod emphasizes that care for the Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine at Mount Sinai and the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem constitutes a tangible confession of faith and unity within the Orthodox Church.
According to the Synodal Decision adopted during the session of 4 February 2026, the Holy Synod resolved to remind the clergy and faithful of their obligation to stand in solidarity with these venerable centers of Orthodoxy, which bear witness to the living presence of the Church in the Holy Lands and the Sinai Peninsula.
The Synod has therefore requested that the Hierarchs of the Church of Greece instruct the parish priests of their respective dioceses to conduct special collections (tray offerings) on designated dates.
Specifically, a collection in support of the Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine of Sinai is to be held on the Fourth Sunday of Great Lent, 22 March 2026. The funds collected are to be deposited into the designated account of the National Bank of Greece (IBAN: GR6701101460000014655804632).
Likewise, a collection in support of the All-Holy Sepulchre is to take place on the evening of Holy Thursday, 9 April 2026, with the proceeds deposited into the corresponding National Bank of Greece account (IBAN: GR0501101460000014655806330).
