Stanley Law Music for the Mission campaign aims to fund 5 local food pantries

WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – A fundraising campaign through Stanley Law is seeking donations for five local food pantries that did not receive mini-grants through the organization’s earlier funding round.

The initiative, called Music for the Mission, is partnering with community media outlets to raise less than $9,000 total across five organizations. Donors can visit musicforthemission.org/donate to choose which pantry receives their contribution.

The following organizations are seeking support:

  • Cape Vincent Community Food Pantry — $1,500
  • Governor Kiwanis Club — $2,000
  • Ogdensburg Snack Pack Program — $1,373
  • Indian River Backpack Program — $2,000
  • Neighbors of Watertown — $2,000

Stanley Law previously awarded mini-grants to 22 of 82 pantries that applied. The Music for the Mission campaign is designed to help the 60 remaining pantries secure public support.

Glenn Curry, of Community Broadcasters, said the effort is a collaboration with media partners, including staff working with Johnny Spezzano.

The campaign builds on previous Music for the Mission events, including past Rocky Horror Picture Shows and a recent show at the Strand Theater.

Curry said the need is significant given current economic pressures. “With the high costs of just groceries in general, it’s been a cold winter,” Curry said. “A lot of people are worried about their heating bills and so forth. This is crucial.”

Donations of any amount are accepted at musicforthemission.org/donate.
